The Call of the Wild...

Phil's Grandparents– Felix and Clara Javenkowski, vacationed in Three Lakes, Wisconsin from the 1930s through the 70's . Felix lived there prior to that, and worked in a lumber camp. He was also a Three Lakes mail carrier (by boat of course!)

Along with that, he was an excellent muskie fisherman.
Clara and Felix raised their family on the southside of Milwaukee, but their hearts always remained in Three Lakes where they vacationed for almost 50 years.
They always stayed at Adam's Cabins on Spirit Lake. There is no place like Spirit Lake on the Three lakes chain. I can honestly say that it hasn't changed much since I was a boy over 40 years ago. My family has decades of fond memories on Spirit Lake. (In fact, that is where my mom Grace, and her husband Ron met as teenagers!) Being a city dweller, I don't get up there as much as I would like. That's why I started painting landscapes.
It takes me there, any time I wish. If you've got a special place that you'd like to capture via a painting, I promise that I will do my very best to capture the feeling that I get when I remember back to Spirit Lake.
I have a studio location in Walkers Point. It is close to where I teach full-time at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Hopefully, I'll get into the studio a little more on my way home from school, and arrange a few gallery night shows with other friend-artists in the building.  Email me at pbelair@wi.rr.com to talk about your project!
